The Long Game

Hi Reader,

When people ask me about longevity, the conversation often starts with the same question: Why would I want to live longer if it means spending those years sick, frail, or dependent on others?

This week, I’m digging into the fascinating—and sometimes messy—reasons I believe in longevity medicine. What is it really? Is it just hype? A billionaires-only club? Or is it a necessary shift in how we approach health for individuals and society?

Even if you are already a believer as I am, this is a good article to share with your colleagues and loved ones to clarify the mission of longevity medicine.

Demystifying Longevity Medicine

We often think of old age as a period of decline, even if we now routinely live into our eighties and nineties. But what if extending life also meant preserving vitality, independence, and purpose? Longevity medicine—an emerging field combining advanced diagnostics, preventive strategies, AI-driven insights, and lessons from public health successes like HIV prevention—aims to close the gap between lifespan and healthspan.

This week, we dissect what longevity medicine really is and examine why it’s not just for the wealthy or well-connected. We explore how interventions that once seemed futuristic—regenerative therapies, personalized nutrition, and predictive analytics—could become as routine as a flu shot. The outcome could be a future in which longer life doesn’t mean prolonged decline, but rather more years of engagement, contribution, and overall well-being.

Hi Reader, I’m thrilled to share a sneak peek of something I’ve been quietly building—one that I believe will transform how we approach health and longevity. For years, I’ve seen patients stuck in a system that focuses on treating illness rather than preventing it. That ends now. Drawing on lessons from my last healthtech startup, and teaming up with top experts in healthcare operations and AI, I’m creating a new model that puts prevention and personalized longevity at the forefront. We call...

Dr. Hillary Lin & Livora Health The Long Game Hi Reader, Happy Holidays! I've been around the globe and back, with additional family visit travel and a thought-provoking roundtable with Flare Capital since our last issue of The Long Game. Roundtable Where is Longevity Innovation Going? Is longevity a fad or a lasting trend? I am a big believer of the field, but it takes reinvention and dedication to disrupt the gnarly beast we call healthcare! I had the pleasure of participating in a...

Eat 40g of protein with every meal, ideally 4 hours apart. Fast every night for 12-18 hours. A vegan diet is the best way to improve your health. The best quality protein is animal protein. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. These are just some of the prescriptions for eternal youth and longevity you might have heard recently from your favorite podcast for YouTube channel. I'm not here to promote any of them, nor to counter any. Instead, I want to highlight the phenomenon we're...
